Welcome to the Old Village School

The Old Village School (aka Wells River Graded School) in Wells River, Vermont was built in 1874 as an outstanding representation of French Second Empire architecture. The old school served the Wells River and Newbury communities until 1967, when the school officially closed. In 1976, the Wells River Graded School was entered into the National Register of Historic Places, and in the years since the school closed, the building has been used as a radio station, a probate court, law offices, a retail store and residential apartments.

On this website, you can learn more about the history of the Old Village School and also learn more about the businesses that operate from this great building.
